A leaflet  called the "Arboretum Tree Trail" is available from the Tourist Information Centre at Derby Market Place, The Council House, The Normanton Regeneration Centre,  local libraries and Museums.

This leaflet guides you around the Arboretum whilst helping you to identify the trees.

Danny, one of the regular visitors to the Arboretum The Arboretum Welcomes Responsible Dog Walkers

The Arboretum is very popular with local dog owners and their dogs, here we see "Danny" one of the local dogs out for a Sunday stroll.

Danny is sadly no longer with us but his owner now has a new pet dog.

The poor reputation the Arboretum had the misfortune to be given, is now fading into the past as hundreds of visitors are coming into the grounds every day, to see the progress of the restoration work and enjoy the pleasant surroundings.

The serpentine paths present some of the most splendid walks within the city boundaries.

Shady Walks

Arboretum Wildlife

We can't leave out the Arboretum's grey squirrels.  Many are so accustomed to the presence of humans that they are brave enough approach people at close quarters, begging for scraps of food.

Some of the older local inhabitants of the Arboretum area have a trusting relationship with the local wildlife.

Wild birds are also now taking advantage of the newly planted shrubs, the pond and the newly turfed areas.

The Joseph Strutt Bowls Club

Due to an increase in charges by the City Council, the Bowls Club has now closed down.
